Murray, Utah, a city in Salt Lake County, seven miles (11 km) south of downtown Salt Lake City. Murray is primarily an industrial suburb and has mineral smelters, grain mills, canneries, and meat-packing plants. It was founded by Mormons in the late 19th century and named for Eli H. Murray, a governor of Utah. It has the mayor-council form of government.
