Bozeman, Montana, the seat of Gallatin County. It lies in the southwestern part of the state, about 80 miles (130 km) south-southeast of Helena, the capital. Bozeman is a marketing center for the surrounding agricultural area. Wholesale and retail trade and Montana State University are major sources of jobs. Attractions in Bozeman include the Museum of the Rockies and the American Computer Museum. Gallatin National Forest is nearby. Bozeman was founded in 1864 and named after John Bozeman, who led the first settlers to the area.
