Dickinson, North Dakota, the seat of Stark County. It lies on the Heart River, 95 miles (153 km) west of Bismarck. A major livestock and grain shipping depot, Dickinson also serves as the marketing and trading center for southwestern North Dakota. Dickinson State University is here. The city was founded in 1880.
