Geography of Stratford
Stratford, Ontario, Canada, the seat of Perth County, on the Avon River, about 85 miles (137 km) southwest of Toronto. It lies in one of Canada's major agricultural and industrial areas. Much of the city's varied manufacturing is related to the automotive industry. The Stratford Shakespearean Festival, featuring the works of Shakespeare and other playwrights and a concert series, attracts thousands of visitors each summer. Stratford was founded in 1832.
