Geography of Peterborough

Peterborough, Ontario, a city and the seat of Peterborough County. It is on the Otonabee River 70 miles (113 km) northeast of Toronto. The Trent Canal links Peterborough with Lake Ontario. The city is the manufacturing and transport center for the surrounding agricultural area. It is also a trade center for resorts on nearby lakes. Electrical equipment, watches, canoes, agricultural equipment, textiles, paper products, processed foods, and plastics are produced. Peterborough was founded in 1825 by Peter Robinson.
