Geography of Kitchener
Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, a city about 55 miles (90 km) southwest of Toronto. Kitchener is an industrial city that manufactures engines and machinery, electrical supplies, wood products, leather and rubber goods, and bicycles. Germans from Pennsylvania first settled here in 1806 or 1807. With the coming of more Germans, the town became known as Berlin. It was incorporated as a city in 1912. During World War I it was renamed in honor of the British field marshal Lord Kitchener.
