Geography of Brantford

Brantford, Canada, a city in southern Ontario. It is on the Grand River, 60 miles (97 km) southwest of Toronto. Brantford is a railway shipping point for an industrial and mixed farming area. Its factories produce farm implements, electrical machinery, refrigerators, and chemicals. The city was named for Joseph Brant, a Mohawk chief. Brantford was part of the Six Nations Indian reservation until 1830. In suburban Tutela Heights, Alexander Graham Bell made his first successful experiments that led to invention of the telephone.
