INGREDIENTS
1 tablespoon butter or margarine 1/2 cup finely chopped onion 1 package (16 ounces) liverwurst 1/4 cup mayonnaise or salad dressing 1/4 cup finely chopped dill pickle 1 tablespoon drained capers 2 teaspoons horseradish mustard or spicy brown mustard 2 teaspoons dried dill weed 1/4 small dill pickle, cut into strips Crackers or cocktail rye breadPREPARATION:
- Heat butter in small saucepan over medium heat until melted. Add onion; cook and stir 5 minutes or until tender. Set aside.
- Mash liverwurst with fork in medium bowl; beat in onion, mayonnaise, chopped dill pickle, capers, mustard and dill weed.
- Form liverwurst mixture into football shape on serving plate; decorate with dill pickle strips to look like football laces. Serve with crackers.
