Geography of Ketchikan
Ketchikan, Alaska, a city on Revillagigedo Island in the Alexander Archipelago, off the southeast coast of Alaska. Ketchikan is a center for commercial fishing, lumber and pulp milling, and tourism. It is also a port on the Inside Passage and is often called the Gateway to Alaska. Several commercial airlines, but no highways or railways, serve the city. Ketchikan began as a supply center for gold miners during the 1890's.
