Geography of Boulder

Boulder, Colorado, the seat of Boulder County. It lies about 5,350 feet (1,631 m) above sea level at the base of the Rocky Mountains, 30 miles (48 km) northwest of Denver. Boulder is the home of the main campus of the University of Colorado and is a center of scientific research and electronics manufacturing. The mild, dry climate and the nearby mountains help make year-round outdoor recreation popular here. Boulder was founded in 1859.
