Grand Forks, North Dakota, a city and the seat of Grand Forks County. It is at the state's eastern border, 192 miles (309 km) northeast of Bismarck. The Red Lake River and Red River of the North join here. Grand Forks produces refined sugar, potato products, and flour. It is the seat of the University of North Dakota. Grand Forks was settled in 1869 and incorporated in 1881.
