Geography of Mankato

Mankato, Minnesota, the seat of Blue Earth County. Mankato is on the Minnesota River, 72 miles (116 km) southwest of Minneapolis. The city has stone quarries, flour mills, and soybean-processing plants. Products include tin cans, farm and electrical equipment, and fishing reels. Mankato State University is here. The site was settled in 1852.
