Great Bear Lake
Great Bear Lake, the largest lake exclusively in Canadian territory. Its area is 12,096 square miles (31,328 km2). Great Bear Lake is in the western part of the Northwest Territories. One of its many inlets extends north of the Arctic Circle. The lake flows into Great Bear River, which runs into the Mackenzie River. Great Bear Lake was discovered about 1800.
