Lake Nipigon

Nipigon, Lake, a lake in Ontario, Canada. It is 36 miles (58 km) north of Lake Superior, to which it is joined by the Nipigon River. The lake is roughly oval, about 66 miles (106 km) long from north to south and 46 miles (74 km) wide. Its area is 1,870 square miles (4,843 km2). Lake Nipigon is dotted with small islands, the largest of which are Kelvin, Geikie, Murchison, and Shakespeare. The lake is in the Nipigon Provincial Forest, and attracts hunters and fishermen.
