Mount Logan

Logan, Mount, the highest peak in Canada. It is in the southwest corner of Yukon Territory, in the St. Elias Mountains. Mount Logan rises to 19,524 feet (5,951 m) above sea level. In North America it is second in height to Mount McKinley. Seward Glacier, more than 50 miles (80 km) long, descends from the southern slopes of Mount Logan and extends into Alaska. Mount Logan was discovered in 1890 by a United States geologist, Israel Cook Russell. He named the peak for Sir William E. Logan, first director of the Geological Survey of Canada. The summit was first reached in 1925.
