The Queen Charlotte Islands

Queen Charlotte Islands, British Columbia, Canada, a group of two large islands, Graham and Moresby, and about 150 islets. They are in the Pacific Ocean, north of Vancouver Island and 60 miles (97 km) off the mainland. Their total area is about 3,700 square miles (9,600 km2) and they extend north-south about 200 miles (320 km). Running their length is a heavily wooded mountain range. The islands are rich in natural resources, including coal, copper, and iron. Haida Indians form about a third of the population. The main occupations are mining, lumbering, and fishing.
