Geography of Wiesbaden
Wiesbaden, Germany, the capital of the state of Hesse. The city is near the Rhine River, 20 miles (32 km) west of Frankfurt. A popular spa since Roman times, Wiesbaden has a luxurious casino, the Kurhaus, offering concerts, gambling, and other entertainment The city has a number of industrial plants and is the trade center for a wine-producing region.
Wiesbaden was founded by Celts in the third century B.C. It was the seat of the Allied Rhineland Commission in 1918–29. Nearly 70 percent of Wiesbaden's buildings were destroyed during World War II.
