Gera, Germany, a city in the state of Thuringia. It is on the White Elster River, 34 miles (55 km) south-southwest of Leipzig. Gera is noted for the production of textiles, especially woolens. Also produced here are carpets, wood products, furniture, metal products, leather goods, glass, chemicals, and paper.
