Geography of Krefeld
Krefeld, Germany, a city in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is in the Ruhr industrial region near the Rhine River. Since the 18th century Krefeld has been a textile center, especially for silk and velvet. It also has steel, machinery, clothing, and food-processing industries. Krefeld was settled in the 12th century and made part of Prussia in 1702. It merged with the neighboring city of Ürdingen in 1929.
