Idaho Falls, Idaho, the seat of Bonneville County. Idaho Falls is on the Snake River, 47 miles (76 km) northeast of Pocatello. It is the trading, processing, and shipping center for an irrigated farming region that produces potatoes, wheat, sugar beets, alfalfa, wool, livestock, and dairy products. The National Reactor Testing Station, a federal nuclear-energy installation, is nearby. Idaho Falls developed around a toll bridge built in 1866.
