Geography of Covington
Covington, Kentucky, the seat of Kenton County. It is directly across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, Ohio, at the mouth of the Licking River. Covington is a manufacturing city and a local trade center.
Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, patterned partly after the Cathedral of Notre Dame, in Paris, is noted for its large stained-glass windows. The old residential district along the riverfront is notable for renovated 19th-century buildings.
Covington was founded in 1812, incorporated in 1815, and chartered as a city in 1834.
