Geography of Gastonia
Gastonia, North Carolina, the seat of Gaston County. It is on the Piedmont Plateau, near Charlotte, in the southwestern part of the state. Gastonia is an industrial city, producing mostly textiles and yarns. The Schiele Natural History Museum is here; Kings Mountain National Military Park, site of a Revolutionary War battle, is nearby.
Gastonia was incorporated as a town in 1877 and as a city in 1910.
