Newport, Kentucky, the seat of Campbell County. The city is at the junction of the Licking and Ohio rivers. Opposite Newport on the Licking River is Covington, Kentucky; across the Ohio River is Cincinnati, Ohio. Newport, an industrial and residential suburb of Cincinnati, produces metal goods, clothing, and processed foods. Newport was laid out in 1791 and incorporated in 1795. It has the council-manager form of government.
