Lewis and Clark Cavern
Lewis and Clark Cavern, a large limestone cave in Jefferson County, Montana. It is 40 miles (64 km) southeast of Butte. The cave was discovered in 1902. Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park, with 2,770 acres (1,120 hectares), was established here in the 1930's. The cavern and park were named for Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, who passed by this region on their expedition to the Pacific.
