Lake George

George, Lake, a lake in northeastern New York. It is 33 miles (53 km) long and 1 to 3 miles (1.6–4.8 km) wide. The lake lies in the foothills of the Adirondacks, south-southwest of Lake Champlain, into which it drains. At the southern tip is the village of Lake George, near which battles were fought in both the French and Indian War and the American Revolution.
