Fairfield, Connecticut, a community in Fairfield County. It is on Long Island Sound, immediately southwest of Bridgeport. Structural steel, chemicals, hardware, and sterling silver are manufactured in the city. Fairfield University and Sacred Heart University are here. Fairfield was settled in 1639.
