Geography of Burlington
Burlington, Vermont, the largest city in the state, the seat of Chittenden County, and the most important port on Lake Champlain. Burlington is also a center of shipping by railway, and is served by air. Its factories produce computer components and aircraft armament. Burlington is the seat of the University of Vermont. Ethan Allen, the Revolutionary War hero, is buried in Burlington. Burlington was settled in 1773 and was incorporated as a city in 1865. It has the mayor-council form of government.
