Geography of Tanta
Tanta, Egypt, a city and the administrative center of Gharbiya governorate, Lower Egypt. It is on the Nile Delta, midway between the river's two primary branches, 50 miles (80 km) from Cairo. Tanta is an important railway and highway junction and a market center. Cotton ginning is the principal industry.
