Doha
Doha, Qatar, the nation's capital, largest city, and commercial center. It is on the east coast of Arabia and fronts on the Persian Gulf. Virtually the entire city has been built since the mid-20th century. The National Museum and the University of Qatar are here. Doha is served by a deepwater port, excellent roads, and an international airport. Doha was the seat of the British protectorate of Qatar from 1916 until 1971, when it became the capital of the newly independent emirate of Qatar.
