The Strait of Gibraltar

Gibraltar, Strait of, a body of water connecting the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. It separates Europe and Africa. The Strait of Gibraltar is about 32 miles (51 km) long and from 8 to 23 miles (13 to 37 km) wide. On its northern shore lie Spain and the British colony of Gibraltar. On the southern shore are Tangier, Morocco, and the fortified Spanish city of Ceuta.
