The Mer de Glace

Mer de Glace, the largest glacier on Mont Blanc, in the Alps of eastern France near Chamonix. The name means “Sea of Ice.” The Mer de Glace is about 3.5 miles (5.6 km) long and covers an area of 16 square miles (41 km2). The mountainous scenery and grandeur of the glacier make it a popular tourist attraction.
