Aruba is an island in the West Indies that belongs to the Netherlands.

Aruba, an island in the Caribbean Sea, 20 miles (32 km) off the coast of Venezuela. Aruba's area is 70 square miles (181 km2). Tourism is the island's major source of revenue. Petroleum refining, which ended in 1985, was once the economic mainstay of Aruba. The island was part of the Netherlands Antilles until 1986, when it became a semi-independent state within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Oranjestad is the chief town and administrative center.
