Caper

Caper, a Mediterranean shrub or one of its pickled unopened flower buds. These tart buds are used in sauces and salad dressings. The shrub is a trailing bush bearing small, white or yellow flowers with four petals. There are two species of this bush: the spiny (with prickles) and the spineless.

The spiny caper bush is Capparis spinosa; the spineless, C. inermis. Both are of the family Capparidaceae.

The caper shrub bears delicate flowers with four petals.
