Jack Pine
Jack Pine, a small- or medium-sized soft pine of the northeastern United States and southern Canada. It grows up to 40 feet (12 m) tall. The tree has dark-brown bark vith narrow, scaly ridges and short, stout needles that grow in pairs. Its irregular, bulging cones are about two inches (5 cm) long. The yellowish wood is used for pulp wood, boxes, and fuel. Jack pines grow well in sandy areas.
The jack pine is Pinus banksiana of the pine family, Pinaceae.
