Geography of Ashland

Ashland, Kentucky, a city in Boyd County and a port on the Ohio River, about 165 miles (265 km) east of Louisville. Ashland is eastern Kentucky's leading commercial and industrial center. It has railway repair shops, oil refineries, and factories producing clothing, chemicals, bricks, and iron and steel goods. Ashland was settled in 1786 and was incorporated in 1854. It has the council-manager form of government.
