Geography of Pakersburg
Parkersburg, West Virginia, the seat of Wood County. It lies at the junction of the Ohio and Little Kanawha rivers, on the western border of the state. Parkersburg is an industrial city producing many products, including glass, chemicals, and iron and steel goods. Two miles (3 km) downstream in the Ohio River is Blennerhassett Island, where Harman Blennerhassett settled in 1798 and established a lavish estate. Parkersburg was settled in the early 19th century.
