Geography of Hazleton

Hazleton, Pennsylvania, a city in Luzerne County. It is near the Pocono Mountains, in the northeastern part of the state. Hazleton's early growth was rapid because of the rich anthracite coal deposits that were mined nearby. Today the city is the center of a fertile agricultural area and has a number of manufacturing industries. Hazleton was laid out in 1836 and was incorporated as a city in 1891.
