Geography of East Providence

East Providence, Rhode Island, a city in Providence County. It is on the east bank of the Providence River, opposite Providence, at the head of Narragansett Bay. East Providence is largely an industrial city. It was settled in the 17th century and was part of Massachusetts until 1862, when it became part of Rhode Island.
