North Platte, Nebraska, a city in Lincoln County. It lies at the junction of the North and South Platte rivers, in west-central Nebraska. Meat packing and dairy processing are the chief economic activities. North Platte is a major distribution center for the surrounding agricultural area. Found here is Buffalo Bill's Ranch State Historical Park, featuring Buffalo Bill Cody's house and the winter quarters of his famous Wild West Show. Nearby is an agricultural research extension of the University of Nebraska. North Platte was founded in 1866.
