Cape Girardeau, Missouri, a city in Cape Girardeau County. It is on the Mississippi River, 100 miles (160 km) south of St. Louis. The city is the commercial center of southeastern Missouri. The leading products are dresses, shoes, cement, and electrical appliances. Southeast Missouri State University is here. The city was founded in 1793.
