Geography of Mulheim

Mülheim, or Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, a city on the Ruhr River near the Rhine, in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The city is six miles (10 km) west-southwest of downtown Essen and has large ironworks. It also manufactures electrical machines, machine parts, motors, textiles, and shoes. Mulheim was in existence by 1100 A.D., and was once the Ruhr's main city.
