The Khingan Mountains
Khingan Mountains, a range in northeastern China. The range is composed of two parts, the Great and the Little Khingans. The Great Khingans (Chinese: Da Hinggan Ling) form the eastern end of the Mongolian Plateau. They stretch northeast from Hebei Province for a distance of 700 miles (1,100 km). Their northern end is at the Amur River, which separates China from Russia. From this point the Little Khingans (Xiao Hinggan Ling) branch southeast, running parallel with the Amur River for about 400 miles (640 km). The highest peak in the Khingans is about 6,500 feet (2,000 m) above sea level.
