Geography of Okayama

Okayama, Japan, the capital of Okayama prefecture. The city is in the western part of the island of Honshu, about 100 miles (160 km) west of Osaka, and fronts on the Inland Sea. Okayama is an industrial center, producing chemicals and textiles, and an important railway junction. Okayama University is here. Among the notable attractions is Korakuen Park, a traditional Japanese garden featuring ponds, waterfalls, and a variety of flowering trees and shrubs.
