Geography of Vadodara

Vadodara, also Baroda, India, a city in Gujarat state. It is in western India near the Gulf of Cambay, about 230 miles (370 km) north of Mumbai (Bombay). Vadodara lies at a railway junction and is a rapidly growing industrial city, producing such goods as foods, textiles, and chemicals. Oil and natural gas are produced nearby in the Gulf of Cambay. Attractions include old palaces and gardens, temples, museums, and an old city gate. Maharaja Sayajirao University is here. Vadodara was the capital of the former princely state of Baroda from about 1734 until 1947.
