Homemade Chili Syrup Recipe: A Refreshing & Spicy Treat

 
INGREDIENTS

3 cups water 1‑1/4 cups sugar 5 to 10 small dried hot red chilies* 2 cups fresh lemon juice 1 bottle (750 ml) Asti Spumante or club soda Additional sugar (optional) Ice Lime wedges and dried hot red chilies for garnish *Use chilies according to taste.

PREPARATION:

  1. Combine water, 1-1/4 cups sugar and chilies in medium saucepan. Cook and stir over high heat until mixture comes to a boil and sugar dissolves. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 30 minutes. Remove from heat and cool completely. Refrigerate 2 hours or up to 3 days.
  2. Pour mixture through strainer into 3-quart pitcher; discard chilies. Stir in lemon juice and Asti Spumante. Stir in additional sugar to taste. Serve over ice. Garnish, if desired.
