INGREDIENTS

Choc Chai Cake 3 squares chocolate, shaved 1/2 cup hot water 1/2 cup shortening 1 2/3 cup sugar 3 eggs 1 1/2 cups cake flour 1/2 cup chocolate chai (tea) 2 1/4 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1 cup milk Choc Chai Filling 1/2 cup shortening 1 stick butter 2 lbs 10x 2 Tbs. chocolate chai (tea) 1/4 cup water (room temperature) 1 tsp pure vanilla French Vanilla Bean Cake 1/4 cup shortening 1/4 cup butter (room temperature) 2 cups cake flour 2 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp pure vanilla 3 egg whites 1 vanilla bean

PREPARATION:

Choc Chi Cake

  1. Melt the shaved chocolate with the hot water until thickened.
  2. Mix the shortening, sugar and eggs.
  3. Sift flour, choc chai, baking powder and baking soda and salt. Alternating with the milk and thickened chocolate, add dry ingredients to batter.
  4. Pour into 2 8" pans bake on 325 for 20-25 minutes.

Choc Chi Filling

  1. Beat shortening and butter. Add 10x, chocolate chai, water and vanilla. Beat for 10 minutes until light and fluffy.

French Vanilla Bean Cake

  1. Mix together the shortening and butter.
  2. Put cake flour and baking powder and salt in a separate bowl and sift.
  3. Add vanilla, beaten eggs and flour in four groups to the shorting/butter mixture.
  4. Add the vanilla bean and mix well.
  5. Pour into 2 8" pans and bake on 325 for 20 -25 minutes
