Geography of Shawnee

Shawnee, Oklahoma, the seat of Pottawatomie County. It lies on the North Canadian River about 35 miles (56 km) southeast of Oklahoma City. Shawnee is the trading and processing center for a farming and ranching area and has a variety of light manufacturing industries. Oklahoma Baptist University is here. Shawnee was founded in 1895. It has the council-manager form of government.
