Geography of Fort Pierce
Fort Pierce, Florida, the seat of St. Lucie County. It is a seaport on the Atlantic coast in the southeastern part of the state, about midway between Miami and Daytona Beach. Fort Pierce is the trading, shipping, and processing center of a region producing cattle, citrus fruit, and vegetables. The economy also depends on tourism and commercial fishing. Fort Pierce developed around a fort built in 1838.
