The Churchill River
Churchill River, an important river of central Canada. It flows about 1,000 miles (1,600 km) from Lac la Loche, in northwestern Saskatchewan, eastward across Manitoba and into Hudson Bay. The Churchill's mouth, at the village of Churchill, forms the best natural harbor on Hudson Bay. From here grain is shipped overseas.
The Churchill flows through so many lakes that it is sometimes described as a chain of lakes connected by narrow, rapid channels. The largest lakes are Churchill and Pinehouse in Saskatchewan and Granville and Southern Indian in Manitoba. There are hydroelectric power plants at Island Falls and Granville Falls.
