Geography of Kish

Kish, a capital of ancient Sumer and one of the first of the world's cities. Its ruins stand in Iraq, between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Kish was a flourishing walled city on the Euphrates in 3000 B.C. City records claim that it was the first city built “after the Flood,” possibly the great flood described in the Bible. Kish lost its importance during the second millennium B.C., probably when the Euphrates changed its course.
